2010 TOURNAMENT RULES 1. United States Golf Association (USGA) rules will govern all play except for the modifications listed below: A. Members must have all of their foursome present and ready to play before getting a starting number. There must be at least ten (10) foursomes complete play in order to have an official tournament. B. Members must use the assigned tees, usually white or middle, as designated by the course and our Tournament Committee. C. In all tournaments, Members are required to putt out on every hole. D. Members may move their ball within one (1) foot to the natural surface that is no nearer to the putting green, EXCEPT, in sand bunkers, water hazards, or on the putting surface of the greens. Members are not allowed to improve the position of their ball relating to any obstructions. E. Members may clean or exchange a ball except when lifting is prohibited F. Members may not improve their lie in sand traps unless the ball is in a footprint or other depression. In that instance the ball may be lifted, sand smoothed, and replaced without penalty. G. If a Member hits out of bounds, ball may be placed in bounds within two (2) club lengths from point of exit, and add one (1) stroke penalty. H. Members may look for a lost ball for only three (3) minutes. I. If a Member experiences a lost ball, judged to be in bounds, but not in a hazard, a new ball may be placed at the point nearest the location of the lost ball; add one (1) stroke penalty to the score. J. A provisional ball may be played for a ball that may be in a water hazard. The provisional ball will be in play if the original ball cannot be found. In that case, add one (1) stroke penalty to the score. K. Members hitting off the tee into a water hazard, may drop a new ball at the nearest point of entry to the hazard (no closer to the green) and add one (1) stroke penalty to the score, OR, place the ball on the far side of the hazard, two (2) club lengths from the edge of the hazard and add three (3) strokes penalty to the score (i.e. you will be hitting “5”). All players must attempt to hit the ball across the water hazard. L. Members playing in Association tournaments are required to place an identifying mark on their ball. M. Members are to record the actual number of shots played, plus penalty strokes, on each hole on their scorecard. If a member submits a scorecard that has an incorrect total score, or a wrong I.D. number, that member will be disqualified for that tournament. N. Members qualifying for “Closest to the Pin” prizes must do so with their first tee shot on those holes by recording their name and number on the card at the green. If no card is turned in for that hole, no prize money will be given. If a hole in one is recorded on a “closest to the pin” hole only that shot will be considered as closest to the pin and one prize will be awarded. O. Members will play and adhere to “Ready Golf” without regard to “Honors” at all times. Slow play will NOT be tolerated. You may be suspended for continued slow play and therefore should review the Policies and Procedures Booklet, Article II, Section 18 for details, or read an excerpt in page 7 of this directory. 2. Score no more than two (2) putts on any designated temporary green. 3. Local rules of the golf course being played must be obeyed. |
